Hamilton leads opening practice

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was this morning's fastest driver out on track at the Hockenheimring. The Briton was just ahead of team mate Heikki Kovalainen and Felipe Massa. Alonso ended fourth.

Lewis Hamilton has said he will do everything he can to make his team McLaren the greatest team in Formula 1 history. The young Briton has the ambition to take McLaren beyond what Ferrari has achieved in F1 history.
Alonso expects Ferrari to win the title

Fernando Alonso has said he expects Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen to fight for the championship until the end of the season. The Spaniard has said his former team mate Lewis Hamilton will probably not be able to follow until the end of the season.

Horner admits driver decision was easy

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner was happy to announce the team's 2009 Formula 1 driver line-up on Thursday afternoon. The Briton admitted it wasn't a difficult decision to choose Sebastian Vettel as Mark Webber's team mate for the upcoming season.
Vettel joins Webber at Red Bull Racing

Mark Webber will be joined by Sebastian Vettel in 2009 at Red Bull Racing. The 21-year-old German will replace David Coulthard. The news hardly comes as a surprise as strong rumours already suggested Vettel as Coulthard's replacement after the Scotsman announced his retirement at the end of the season.

Fresh from scoring his eighth point of the season at the British Grand Prix, Williams rookie Kazuki Nakajima is facing up to a circuit he is not overly familiar with this weekend in Hockenheim. However, the Japanese driver has been doing everything he can to prepare.
